New fruit and veg export hub to Russia in Northern China

The city of Ning'an in the North of China is investing in the fruit and vegetable trade with Russia. Since the opening of a specialised custom clearance area, export to Russia has increased to 230 million USD a year. Products that pass Ning'an are onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, mangoes from Hainan, summer squash from Shandong and citrus from Fujian.

Now, the city wants to expand its own production of fruit and vegetables to profit from the trade channel. 27,000 hectares (400,000 mu) of green vegetables have recently been planted. In addition, the company is investing in 1,200 hectares (18,000 mu) of new logistic facilities to transfer up to 1 million ton of fresh products each year, of which an additional 120,000 ton for the Russian market.
