Sweet Sensation season starts

The Dutch Sweet Sensation pears were plucked last week and will be available from week 42 on, "There is a lot of interest again from various customers, we expect this to be a good season for sales. Due to the cold spring, there is less volume and the pears are somewhat smaller, but the 'pack-out' is larger," says marketing coordinator Ton van Wiggen from The Greenery. "The marketing season is expected to run until mid-March 2016. In addition, Sweet Sensation is being grown in more and more countries in the southern hemisphere. We expect to have year round availability within a few years."

Distinguished
Sweet Sensation's color and taste stand out against all other pears. The pears are not only popular in Europe, but in Asia as well; during Asia Fruit Logistica last month the pears received an excellent reception, so excellent in fact that volumes of these pears will be exported to this new market this year. 




Sweet Sensation is also clearly recognizable due to its distinctive brand identity. With the slogan 'Love at First Bite' a marketing campaign is being launched which will include store demonstrations, on-pack promotions and various advertisements. Throughout the campaign the distinguishable qualities of the pear will be emphasized to both the retailer and the consumer.




Packaging
The Sweet Sensation pear is available in a one level or two level package with the recognizable Sweet Sensation box and PLU sticker, or just four pairs packaged in an attractive consumer packaging.
