Guanxi: start production dragon fruit, passion fruit and Taiwan Pearl guava

Fruit production and sales have grown rapidly in Guangxi province in 2014, according to a report of the local government. 

Fruit farms in Guangxi grew with 33,000 hectares, a total increase of 5%. Total fruit production reached 12.2 million ton, 9% more than the year before. Total value reached 32.6 billion Yuan, and increase of 30%.

Exotic fruit production grew especially rapid in 2014. Farmers in Pingguo, Qinnan and Liangqing county have started to plant dragon fruit. The production of passion fruit was launched in Xixiangtang and Shanglin county. Moreover, Longzhou and Qinna county started with the production of Taiwan Pearl guava. 

Fruit prices also increased significantly. Prices of local spring-ripe bananas increased with 30-40% compared to an earlier season. Prices of oranges increased by 20-25%. Peach prices increased with 10%, plums with 30% and ripe lychees from Sanyuehong and Feizixiao sold for 50% more than the year before.
