China: Possible market entrance of Malaysian dragon fruit

A Malaysian delegation has visited Qingdao in Shandong province to talk about possible new export opportunities of Malaysian fruit to the Chinese market. Chong Sin Woon, one of the Malaysian delegates, said that with a population of over 100 million, Shandong province is an attractive export market. Malaysia is working together with the local government of Qingdao to facilitate the export of dragon fruit. Currently, Malaysia cannot export dragon fruit to China.

China mainly imports white dragon fruit from Vietnam. Chong said that Malaysian red dragon fruit is sweeter than the one from Vietnam. Malaysia hopes to open the local market with lower priced products.
