Potato harvest gets going

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
In many places the potato harvest has clearly got going since last week. The warehouses are quickly filling up. The predominantly friendly late-summer weather has only occasionally been interrupted by rainfall. The producers are satisfied with the yield so far, which has mainly been average, as well as with the potato quality. Occasionally there is a case of Rhizoctonia. The producer prices have remained at last week’s level, in part these prices were locked in with discounters until the 40th calendar week. In the course of deploying provisioning actions by food retail traders wholesale sales prices, the wholesale prices differ strongly. Depending on chain store and pack size, 16 to 29 cents/ kg were mentioned. The peeled-potato prices remain predominantly at last week’s level, occasionally prices dropped about 5 to 10 cent /kg.
 


Brandenburg 
The producer prices for table potatoes remain stable at last week's level. Sales have increased due to the start of cellar-age actions in the food retail trade. Packagers are sharply calculating to maintain the price level with the producers, also during the provisional actions. Despite brief bouts of rain, the harvest is proceeding rapidly. As the harvest proceeds, the expected average yields are confirmed. The quality of table potatoes is mostly satisfactory. Some suppliers in the peeled-potato industry have taken back their prices for peeled raw products by about 5 to 10 cent/kg. 
Saxony
The producer price for mainly firm-cooking food products have yielded 1 Euro/dt. Meanwhile, the main harvest has also begun in the heights. Some producers have stopped selling table potatoes, to first fill their own warehouse. Except for smaller rain breaks, the harvest conditions are mostly good. Initial provisioning actions in the food retail trade bring drive to the marketing. Sales have increased. Sufficient food products are available to suit the needs of the packers. The prices on the peeled-potato market could be abided compared to last week.
 


Saxony-Anhalt
The table potato market is currently marked by good supply and demand. Mail order companies report increased sales within the country and increased demand from abroad. The export needs to be partially halted, in order to fill our own warehouses. Every now and then the harvest is interrupted by rain storms. The tubers are mostly of average size. There are few oversized ones, from time to time they are found among special species. The potato quality is predominantly good, sometimes there are reports of second formations of shoots. The producer price for mainly firm-cooking species have maintained the level of last week. The prices for firm-cooking and floury cooking products have decreased slightly. In export, prices of 14 Euro/dt are mentioned at the supplier station. The peeled-potato prices are trending unchanged at last week's level.
 
 
Thuringia
The main harvest is in full swing in many places. The offer of table potatoes is ever increasing. A large part of the harvested products is put in storage. Because many provisional actions are starting, additional food products are still being purchased nationwide. The producer prices for food products have mostly maintained last week's level. In the course of actions to put products in cellar storage, from time to time lower prices are being paid. The trade companies determine the prices. The harvest conditions are good. Yields are average. The peeled-potato prices are stable.
