China: New season pomelos, kiwis and tangerines

Early autumn fruits, such as green tangerines and pomelos are beginning to enter the Chinese market while summer fruits are still available. New season fruit are popular and current supply for the local market in Pingyang, in Zhejiang province at the East Coast of China, is not sufficient.

Pink honey pomelos from Pinghe, in Fujian province, are the most expensive on the market with prices around 15.6 yuan per kg. Honey pomelos are being sold for 13.6 yuan per kg. Normal pomelos are sold for 7.6 yuan per kilo.

Besides pomelos, kiwis and green tangerines are also becoming available on market. The price of kiwis from Jiangshan is 13.6 yuan per kilo. The price of green tangerines dropped from 23 yuan to 7.16 yuan per kg due to large volumes. A similar situation has occurred with mandarins; the price of mandarins decreased from 23.6 yuan to 13.6 yuan per kg.

Apples are currently the best-selling fruit on the market in Pingyang. Newly harvested ‘Red General’ apples are now available on the market for a relatively high price of 12 yuan per kg. Most apples come from Shandong province. The price of Rubei jujubes (Chinese dates) dropped from 31.6 yuan to 27.6 yuan per kg. King jujubes that come from Zhanhua in Shandong province are selling for 39.6 yuan per kg.
