Anechoic chamber, hi-tech tag measuring equipment for Aucxis

In order to be able to perform RFID research and developments in an even more efficient and accurate way, Aucxis invested in the installation of an anechoic chamber and hi-tech tag measuring equipment of Voyantic. Geert Vonck, CEO and Filip Fontaine, chairman of the board, are very excited about the new RFID chamber as it makes Aucxis one of the most advanced and most capable RFID integrators in Europe to define, select and develop best performance tags. Since it was put into operation in June, various tags have been tested for projects or proof of concept studies for clients in different sectors (agriculture, fishery, automotive, pharma and laundry).

Hi-Tech test equipment

The test equipment of Finnish company Voyantic, is the industry de-facto standard in UHF RFID performance measurements, used by many of the leading tag manufacturers, universities and system integrators. Its Tagformance system is 100% aligned with the GS1 Tagged-Item Grading concept and encompasses a complete measurement solution for evaluating the functionality and performance of EPC Class1 Gen2 RFID systems.

Tag selection is crucial
Choosing the right tag is crucial to the good working of an RFID project and there plenty of tags available on the market. In its new anechoic chamber using the calibrated measuring equipment, Aucxis can accurately and consistently measure the following factors:
  • Reading distance of the RFID tag
  • Effect of the orientation of the RFID tag in relation to the reading point
  • Influence of the surface on which the RFID tag is attached
  • Sensitivity of the RFID tag
