Wide price range on apple market

The range of apples available on the market increased with the arrival of Belgian Delbarestivale, Sissired and GreenStar and the German Goldparmäne. The availability of German Elstar apples increased, but their quality varied. Several batches looked and tasted great while others left something to be desired. These variations caused a wide price range on the apple market.

In Berlin German Boskoop apples went for €1.95 per kilo and Italian Granny Smith €1.35 per kilo. The first French Red Delicious and Granny Smith apples came on the market and sold in Hamburg for €2.10 per kilo (size 70/75 mm). Italy mostly supplied the market with Royal Gala and Golden Delicious. The demand was mostly calm and stable. However in Munich the demand increased somewhat, compared to last week. The prices had to be lowered a little due to the increased supply. Especially the German apples became cheaper. The demand for apples imported from abroad, chiefly New Zealand and Chile, was limited, and was mostly induced by the availability of the supply.
