William Willems, Central Fruit:

"Large volumes of South African citrus still on their way"

The South African citrus season is going 'well to very well' according to William Willems of Central Fruit. "There are not real stores on our market at the moment. The larger volumes are currently on their way by boat. This is quite normal for this time of year, there is always a peak around this time. The start was a little delayed this season."

Volumes will not cause problems

William is satisfied with the prices. "They are quite stable and are leaning towards the normal side. Not low, but also not extremely high." He is looking forward to the rest of the season positively. "I don't expect huge volumes to cause problems in Europe. We have both Navel Late and Midknight at Central Fruit. We also get sufficient volumes of Cambria Late oranges in 10 kilo boxes. This is the best variety to end the season before Spain starts. We will also continue to ship Midknight and Valencia in 15 kilo boxes for the next few weeks," he concludes.

Central Fruit has years of experience in importing and exporting fruit. Central Fruit is part of Group A. de Witte and sells their products in the European Centre for fruits and vegetables in Brussels. The main brands in the assortment are Cibel and Cebon.
