"Cees van Vugt and Jeffrey Moret: "Limited offer organic greenhouse veg"

Marni Organics separate department for overseas activities

Nearly one year ago, Cees van Vugt and Jeffrey Moret started Marni Organics. "Beforehand, we hadn't imagined we'd carry such a wide range within only a year. Greenhouse vegetables, open field vegetables, citrus, top fruit, exotics. It really went quite fast," the organic traders say. "At the moment, we're very busy with the import of Peruvian avocados, and we also expecting the first containers of ginger from Peru."

Marni Organics is currently switching to the early apple and pear varieties from the Southern European season, with the Italian varieties doing particularly well. The overseas activities are also expanding more and more, which made the gentlemen decide to turn the overseas import into a separate branch. "In order to manage the growth, we soon want to expand the team by bringing on board a new commercial colleague," Cees says.

The current greenhouse vegetable market is marked by a limited supply. "We're coming from a small summer dip, but at the moment prices of organic cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes and eggplants are rather good, just like conventional produce. Not a lot of production is available, resulting in an eager market. Late next week, more organic greenhouse vegetables will become available, and the market will recover again somewhat," Jeffrey expects.
