Peter Visser
Dutch cherry season better than last year
For the wholesaler, Visser, the Dutch cherry season is very important. The family company, that is located in Krimpen aan den IJssel, brings the total fresh product packet to the people, both to wholesalers and market traders. Dutch cherries are their specialty. "The outside season has ended. We are still getting some customers via auction, but at the end of season it is not easy to find the right customers," says Peter Visser.
He looks back on a good season, "A lot better than last year. The season was more consistent. Also, the cherries were pretty big this year."
We had normal prices and the quality was good. I go to the growers to select the cherries myself. Through this you learn which growers you want. This gives our customers confidence. In the cherry season we are known for searching for cherries for each customer that fit their desired size and price range."
In the last few weeks Visser was busy with the cherries day and night, but that doesn't mean that things have quieted down, "We are now busy with the plums, and soon the apples will be here. We are always extra busy during cherry season, but we always stay on track."
