According to the Secretariat of Agricultural Development, Rural and Fisheries (Sedarpa), Pesian lime producers from Veracruz have exported more than 273 tons of this citrus to South Korea since the opening of the trade with this country less than a year.
The aforementioned exports comply with the protocols established by the National Health Service, Food Safety and Quality (SENASICA) for agricultural exports as well as with the standards set by South Korea. The volume exported was sent in 91 shipments, both by air, from the International Airport of Mexico City, and by sea.
South Korea's Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (QIA) authorized the entry of the fruit after the Work Plan for the Export of Persian Lime from Mexico to South Korea was signed last October.
The Asian country represents a potential market for Mexican agricultural products, as it has over 50 million potential consumers.
Jalisco follows Veracruz in exports and, between both entities, Mexico has sent 301 tons of seedless limes, which are well received in the eastern markets, to South Korea.
