France number one exporter in 2014

“Orange Red” apricots are popular

The BLE market report week 25/2015 shows that the amount and varieties of apricots on the German wholesale markets still increases. The varieties Orange Red, Pinkcot, Flopria, Robada and Traver were sold more often. Demand was steady and stable, but still traders sporadically had to lower their prices. This caused a wide range in prices for some varieties.

France and Spain deliver
The apricot variety Red Orange, from France and Spain, was relatively expensive due to the convincing appearance and taste. Spanish apricots cost on average 2.36 Euro per kilo in week 25. The demand for smaller and low quality apricots decreased. Especially Greek apricots showed shortcomings in quality. As a consequence traders had to cope with price reductions.
