For the last ten years, Andreas Foidl has been guiding the destiny of the trading center. Founded in 1965, the trading center has nowadays developed into one of the most modern and important trading centers of the federal republic. The managing director's opinion: “Nowadays we are still one of the few trading places in Germany where the whole assortment of fresh products is available.”

“Modern fresh- and logistic center in the heart of Berlin”

Among others, the Berliner Großmarkt offers over 500 different kinds of fruit and vegetables on 330,000 square meters. In the run-up to the event, Andreas Foidl proudly reported: “The Berliner Großmarkt is a modern fresh- and logistic center in the heart of Berlin. Come in once, park once, and purchase everything one needs. This has priority; this is what we put ourselves out for. Also in the next 50 years.”

The companies of the wholesale market sell their products to the clientèle. The products come from the local area and from all over the world. Quality and service belong to the portfolio of the Berliner Großmarkt. 750,000 tons of goods with a value of over 1 billion Euros are transferred each year on the Berliner Großmarkt.

The theme of environment protection is close to the heart of the Berliner Großmarkt, and particularly to the heart of Andreas Foidl. “We are currently planning construction of a small wind power plant on the terrain. The construction permit has already been applied for.” Over the past years, the heating and cooling systems were already renovated, and a photovoltaic area of 40,000 square meters was installed on the roofs of the wholesale market. Because of this plant, they can already cover 10 percent of the power needs of the Berliner Großmarkt.

Severe weather could not ruin the mood of the party guests. They were celebrating and dancing until well into the night.
