According to Kuden the studies had a diversity of aims: yield, size, appearance, harvest time, fruit quality, storage life, disease and pest resistance, shape of the fruit, he continued:
“Cukurova Horticulture Professor Dr. Comlekcioglu conducted this study with the 'Superior' peach variety and the ‘Venus’ and 'Stark Red Gold' nectarine varieties grown on the flatlands; they were crossbred to create late season, early cultivation suitability, and a fruit colour, flavour and aroma aimed at creating a beautiful new peach and nectarine. Under normal conditions the superior peach varieties in south east Turkey mature from August to the end of September. Our studies have achieved a late peach and nectarine which can be matured in early October of later.”
