APAL says farewell to HIA Marketing manager

APAL has been advised that Luke Westley will finish up as Marketing Manager for apples and pears at Horticulture Innovation Australia Limited (HIA) in July.

At HIA, Luke was responsible for the management of the levy funded marketing program for Aussie Apples and Australian Pears and has been a passionate voice for Australian apple and pear marketing over the last four and a half years.

During his time at HIA, Luke was responsible for the introduction of the Aussie Apples label and the Australian Pears cook book. APAL would like to thank Luke for his contributions and APAL’s Market Development Manager Olivia Tait assured growers that APAL will continue working with HIA to support marketing.

“Domestic marketing and export market development remain critical to ensure good returns for Australian apple and pear growers,” says Olivia. “APAL will continue working with HIA to help find ways to improve marketing for our industry.”

Over the coming weeks, a handover of the management of the levy funded apple and pear marketing will take place and HIA want to recruit a replacement quickly. Luke will be taking up a new opportunity outside the industry but says he remains a passionate supporter for apples and pears.

“I can assure you I will continue to be a proud and loud advocate for Aussie Apples and Australian Pears,” says Luke.
