Vietnamese lychee exports to China

Authorities in the Vietnamese provinces of Lao Cai and Bac Giang met with authorities from the Chinese province Yunnan last week to discuss measures to facilitate lychee exports this year.

Vice President of the Bac Giang committee, Bui Van Hanh, emphasised that his province were reinforcing food safety measures and creating good buying conditions for wholesalers. Authorities from Yunnan have promised to favour Vietnamese lychee imports. Bac Giang currently has 12,000 hectares of lychee plantations, compliant with the VietGAP norms. Annual production reaches 80,000 tons. In 2015 they harvested about 160,000 tons, of which 40% was destined for export.
