Increased consumer prices in Germany
Compared to March 2015, the consumer price remains unchanged in April. With that, the Statistische Bundesamt (Destatis) corrected its preliminary overall results from April 29, 2015 slightly upward (+ 0.1 percent)
Average food prices
Compared to April last year, the prices for foodstuffs rose around 1.1 percent in April 2015. Generally vegetables clearly became more expensive (+6.1 percent, including cucumbers: +55.3 percent; cabbage- and iceberg lettuce: +35 percent; but potatoes decreased: -17.8 percent).
The prices for goods altogether, energy and foodstuffs included, dropped in April 2015 compared to April 2014 by about 0.6 percent. Compared to the preceding months, price reductions for goods weakened further.

Compared to preceding month, March 2015, the consumer prices remain unchanged in April 2015. The price increases for goods (+0.4 percent) are balanced out by the price reductions for services (-0.4 percent). Notably, the price increases for energy are altogether about 0.5 percent in April 2015, compared to March 2015. In particular, the increased fuel prices (+2.3 percent including premium petrol: +2.9 percent; Diesel fuels: +0.3 percent) stand opposite to price reductions in household energy (-0.3 percent, including heating oil: -0.5 percent).
