Asparagus supports sales

Potato warehouses continuously emptying

On the German wholesale markets, when it comes to new potatoes, they were mostly trading in Annabelle from Cyprus, Sieglinde from Italy, and Nikola from Morocco. This follows from the market report no. 19/15 from the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food (BLE). Mother's Day supported the asparagus sales. Thereby, an increased demand for asparagus has a positive effect on potato sales.

Prices tend downward
The price level orients itself to the supply, however it could not maintain the level so far. In many places, prices had to be lowered frequently. Nevertheless, the warehouses at the wholesale markets are emptying continuously.

Germany is dominating developments

The German potatoes are dominating the market developments with numerous varieties, such as Belana, Marabel or Allians, among others. The supply can cover the demand easily, so that there are no large price changes.
