APAL says farewell to two directors, moves office

This week APAL sadly farewells two of its Directors and announces it is moving office to accommodate expanding business opportunities to serve apple and pear growers.

“Unfortunately APAL Directors Mark Joyce, South Australia, and Scott Montague, Victoria, have submitted their resignations this week,” says APAL Chair Michele Allan. “We’re very sad to see them go because they have served APAL well and have helped to support the industry through their contributions. I’d like to thank them both for their service to APAL.”

Mark has been on the APAL Board since December 2013 and has represented SA growers. Scott has been on the APAL Board since November 2011 and was also Chair of the Marketing Industry Advisory Committee that provided advice to the old HAL on investing growers’ marketing levies.

The vacant position of SA Director has been advertised among APAL’s members in South Australia.

In other changes at APAL this week, APAL has announced that to provide better and more efficient services to apple and pear growers, the APAL office is moving location to a new office on Jolimont Rd in East Melbourne (still a short tram ride from the Melbourne CBD).

APAL currently owns the office it occupies in North Melbourne. The planned move will see APAL sell the office (the auction is planned for 29 May) and invest the revenue back into the services it provides growers to support the apple and pear industry.

APAL’s annual audited financial report will soon be finalised and distributed to members for their information. All APAL members can attend the APAL AGM and will get a discount to attend the National Horticulture Convention.

The office move is expected to take place sometime in July 2015 or shortly thereafter. Email addresses and mobile phone numbers of APAL staff will remain the same. APAL will make an announcement on the exact date of the move once it has been determined and regarding the address and any changes in landline numbers closer to the time.
