Mangos arrive today

Nearly 100,000 mangoes arrive every year in Germany from Burkina Faso. This is a result of the longstanding partnership of the churches and this year another fresh supply can be expected. A small proportion of healthy fruits, about 1,700, will be sold again from the church on the island Langeoog.

With the proceeds of the action by the Lutheran Church district Böblingen and the Lutheran Church Burkina Faso, twelve primary schools with about 5,000 children were supported in the West African country.

The Mango campaign is a groundbreaking Fair Trade project, which has already resulted in 1.5 million Euro profit from 1989 to 2014. This year the organizers hope for a profit of 120,000 Euro.

The mangoes are available at various points in the town centre from Friday May 8th, for instance at Church Street and in the One World Shop. Even restaurants offer special dishes with mango this time.
