Ecuadorian tropical produce shipper continues to see growth

Having been in business for over 15 years, REFIN S.A is presently one of the leading tropical produce shipping companies in Ecuador, mainly dealing with mangos, plantains, malanga, limes, ginger, among other products.

Mangos and Plantains are certainly our stronger items claims Mr. Bernardo Malo, CEO of Refin S.A.. We do around 1 million boxes of mangos per season as well as 400,000 boxes of green plantains. Our products follow very demanding quality control protocols at field and pack house levels in order to meet with our customer´s standards.

Mango season goes from October – January. The company deals with almost every variety grown in Ecuador such as Tommy Atkins, Kent, Keitt, Ataulfo, Haden, Madam Francis, Nam Doc Mai and so on. Green plantains and all other tropicals are shipped on a 52 week basis in 40 and 50 pound presentations.

Refin´s products which are packed under the Bernie´s, Lucy´s and Sebastian labels, are distributed in the US, Europe, Canada, New Zealand, Mexico and Japan. We believe in strong long term business relationships with our different customers and receivers says Mr. Malo. The company puts a lot of emphasis in food safety, good agricultural practices and sustainability, and in that sense certifications such as HACCP, Globalgap and Tesco Field to Fork have been gradually achieved.
