2014 fruit and vegetable export from EU to non-EU countries up 10%

EU exports of fresh fruits and vegetables to non-EU countries in 2014 increased by 10% in volume over the previous year amounting to 7.7 million tons. However, the export value decreased by 5% in the same period and amounted to $5,380 million Euro, according to data from the Statistical Office of the EU, Eurostat, and processed by FEPEX.

EU exports of fresh fruits in 2014 increased by 10% in volume, to a total of 4.2 million tons. The main fruit exported was the apple with 1.7 million tons, 15% more than in 2013, followed by the pear, which grew by 35%, reaching 471,797 tons. In terms of value, EU exports of fresh fruits Community decreased 1.5% and amounted to $3,280 million Euro.

EU exports of vegetables to non-EU countries amounted to 3.4 million tons, 9% more than in 2013; the main exported vegetables were potatoes and onions with 1.4 million tons (+27 %) and 804,659 tons (+5%), respectively. The export value of vegetables from the EU to countries outside the EU fell by 10% to $2,100 million Euro.
