Ser Pak is a Turkish company specialised in the development and sale of Prolong® Modified Atmosphere/Modified Humidity packaging, designed for an excellent control of the conditions inside the packaging, thus helping prolong the shelf life of fresh herbs.When fresh herbs are packed and stored or transported correctly in Prolong® MA packaging, characterised by high moisture vapour transmission rates, storability can be extended by to up to 2-4 weeks. “We are already manufacturing these fresh herb bags and we are looking to reach fresh herb exporters or packers all over the world,” affirms Manager Nazmiye Guler Akbulut.
According to Nazmiye, the key differentiating factor for this bag is that it makes it possible for exporters to ship their goods by truck or sea-freight instead of air-freight. “For example, Egyptian exporters currently shipping their fresh herbs by air to Italy now have the opportunity of using sea-freight, saving money and allowing the importer to get the goods at lower prices.”
Nazmiye explains that, at the moment, most packers and exporters aren’t using MA bags for fresh herbs, as they prefer to ship by air-freight. “We want to sell our products to exporters and show them the benefits of using Prolong® MA bags, such as the prevention of waste at destination. With them, they are not just able to deliver the best quality fresh herbs to their clients, but also improve the reputation of their brand.”
