Japanese group develop organic LED farming in Vietnam

Daiken Murakami, Director General of the Japanese group Showa Denko, has decided to invest in the construction of an organic vegetable farming centre that uses LED lighting technology in the Northern province of Ha Nam.

It will be the group’s first organic vegetable centre abroad. The first vegetables are expected to be sold at the end of the year.

According to Daiken Murakami, the group have had success with the new LED technology and results are better than with open air farming that suffers from weather conditions and is more expensive, especially in water usage. Showa Denko have a park with 21 organic vegetable farming centres in Japan.
