International character Anuga FoodTec
Last week, the triennial Anuga FoodTec was once again held in Cologne. This is an international trade fair for suppliers to the food and beverage industry. Over 1500 exhibitors were present, 56% of which were from outside Germany. Not only was there an increase in the number of exhibitors (14%), but the number of visitors also went up by 6% since the previous edition (2012). Over a course of 4 days, the trade fair had a total number of visitors of more than 45,000 from 137 different countries.
On the first day of the trade fair, the ceremony for the International FoodTec Awards took place. This year, the award was given to 18 innovations.
Nine of the innovations received a gold award, including GEA Food Solutions with the GEA MultiDrum, Insort GmbH with the Sherlock food analyser, PerfoTec with the Respiration control system and Sealpac with their Easylid innovation.
The other nine nominees received a silver award, including Intralox L.L.C Europe with a DirectDrive System.
The trade fair is held for the entire food and beverage industry, which means there were also many suppliers from the fruit and veg sector.
