The organic primeval banana
Amongst the wholesalers wide assortment is a special rare banana variety called "UURU - the original banana".
"This special organic banana is only available here in Göbel, at Dortmund wholesale market," Romberg proudly announced. Internationally, the Uruú-banana is marketed by the company 'Internationale Fruchtimport Gesellschaft Weichert GmbH & Co.KG', located in Hamburg. The organic banana is imported from Ecuador and is different in both appearance and taste, compared to the Cavendish variety. The taste is similar to the original banana variety called “Gros Michel”. Even in the so-called “fourth colour” the banana develops its full aroma and is ready to eat. In addition, the banana is GlobalGAP and organic standard certificated.
German apples are high in demand
Alongside the uuru-banana, Wilhelm Göbel offers a wide product range of fruits and vegetables. “Apple demand is high with our customers at the moment, especially with German apples in particular,” Romberg reports, “Tomatoes, cucumber and salad is also doing pretty well at the moment.” Romberg is also satisfied with the prices of his products.
Wilhelm Göbel delivers
Wilhelm Göbel KG mainly supplies his costumers through their own delivery service with Göbels fresh products. Customers of Egbert Romberg include bulk consumers, gastronomy companies and food retail companies. “We also supply the Metro AG with our products”, Romberg explains. Alongside the fresh fruits and vegetables, Göbel KG also sells a wide range of ready to cook vegetables, peeled potatoes in all different varieties and salads.
