Peru: First seedlings planted in Olmos

The Olmos Project began to flourish as the first seedlings of avocados, grapes, cotton, pepper and sugar cane were planted and they are expected to generate huge agricultural exports.

The members of the Board of the Special Project Olmos Tinajones-PEOT toured the irrigation works to verify the progress of the crops made by companies such as: Agrovision, Pampa Baja and Agrolmos.

So far, they have installed 38 hectares of grapes, 60 hectares of cotton, 1 hectare of pepper, 500 hectares of sugarcane and 300 acres of avocado, which already has a nursery with 200,000 seedlings. The latter has been sown by INAGRO.

"I am proud and happy that we are helping our region develop. It's encouraging that the Olmos project is finally a reality," said Germán Fernandez, president of the board of PEOT.

The specialists toured all of the hydraulic structure. The most important aspect of the project is that it will help the companies create an average of one thousand jobs for workers who live nearby irrigation areas.
