Italy: Exports increase, value drops

According to the latest Fruitimprese data concerning the first eleven months of 2014, the trend of the previous months with respect to 2013 is confirmed - there was an increase of exported volumes (+4.4%) but with a decrease in value (-1.2%). The opposite happened for imports - less volumes (-2.4%) but for a bigger value (+1.9%).

The balance is of €766 million, -11.5% with respect to the previous year.

During the first eleven months of 2014, Italian companies exported 3.53 million tons of produce for a total value of €3.7 billion.

Export flows decreased (-0.8%) but the rest did well - fresh fruit (+6.2%), citrus fruit (+5.9%) and dried fruit (+13.7%). As regards the value, the sign is negative for all segments except dried fruit (+35.3%) - vegetables (-6.5%), citrus fruit (-5.2%) and fresh fruit (-2.9%).

For what concerns imports, Italy bought 3 million tons of produce for a total value of €2.93 billion.

There was an increase in fresh fruit (+4.7%), tropical fruit (+5.8%) and dried fruit (+14.9%) and a drop in citrus fruit (-18.2%) and vegetables(-7.7%). The value was negative for vegetables (-11.3%), citrus fruit (-12.5%) and dried fruit (-4.3%) and positive for dried fruit (+23.6%) and tropical fruit (+4.3%).
