Astronaut Andre Kuipers and polar explorer Marc Cornelissen at 'wintry' Opticool

Logistic service supplier Opticool's grounds at the Rotterdam port were transformed into the 'North Pole' yesterday. The local Kennissenclub was meeting and the dress code was winter. Visitors, including many fruit and vegetable workers, were welcomed with a Jagermeister. The evening was opened by president Wim van Sluis of the Kennissenclube, after which Antonia Oken added a short explanation about Opticool's activities.

Andre spoke about the prehistory of the space session and the question of how the next generation with find the North Pole. Marc Cornelissen spoke about his adventures at the North and South Pole. It was the first time that Andre and Marc gave a presentation together.

"Our efforts to achieve a CO2 reduction fit well into the sustainable character of this meeting. For instance, the containers arrive at the quay in a barge and we have invested in a hyper modern and sustainable cooling focussed on the future. This needs investments, but due to our entry into the AGRO Merchants Group we have possibilities for this too," says Antonio.

After the introduction there was still opportunity for the participants to network whilst enjoying a snack and a drink.
