Switzerland: Spar increases sales

Last year, the Spar-Group increased their Group's sales slightly by 0.6% to CHF 1.068 billion. Spar announced, the supermarket business went especially well. The 181 markets of Spar were able to increase their sales by 2.9% to CHF 606 million. Spar stated that the reason for the increase was higher customer traffic within their supermarkets. A strong growth of sales was achieved especially with organic and local products.

The TopCC Cash & Carry pick up markets generated a slight increase of 0.5% to CHF 317 million. A decline in sales of 8.2% was made on the delivery of third-party costumers. Here CHF 145 million were made.

Spar wants to continue their growth strategy in 2015 and wants to open three new neighbourhood markets and four new express convenience markets. Last year the company celebrated its 25th anniversary in Switzerland.
