Plague can't be transmitted via fruit and veg

The recent outbreak of bubonic plague in Madagascar was the reason for the 'Deutsche Fruchthandelsverband' (DFHV) to inform the German population about a possible danger of plague, which is feared with import from Madagascar.

The DFHV announced that transmission of plague bacteria through imported fruit and vegetables can definitely be ruled out, German website Gabot.de reports. The DFHV received this information from the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine.
