Last week most of the supply of pepper on the German wholesale market came from the Netherlands and Spain. There were also peppers from Turkey and Belgium, but in much smaller quantities. The supply from Spain further increased, while a reverse movement was visible for the peppers coming from the Netherlands. Supply has fallen and the prices have risen, something that is normal for this time of year. The import from Turkey, which is mainly supplied in 500 gram bags, did not benefit from this; for the most part, prices remained stable, and even slightly fell at some points. The Dutch parties in Cologne had to admit this also.
Average price of pepper per 100kg in last few weeks
Sweet point peppers from Morocco made their appearance in Hamburg and Frankfurt and went for circa 7 Euro per 5 kilos; therefore these were favoured over the supply from Turkey.
