Andalusia: citrus harvest slightly lower than last year

According to the first estimates by the government of Andalusia, the citrus harvest in season 2014/15 will be around 1,947,326 tonnes, reports the German website Fruchthandel.de. Compared to the season 2013/14, this is a decrease of 5.1%, but compared to the four year average there is an increase of 10.7%. The decrease is mainly in oranges. The high temperatures in April and May had a negative effect on the blooming period and fertilisation. Unlike the oranges the production of mandarins and lemons will be larger than in the last season.
