"Green Light early kiwis are finishing and is now time for the Hayward variety," explains Mario Tartari from Eurofruit. Harvesting in Northern Italy should start in week 44.

"Consumption of the early variety was rather good, although people were not so enthusiastic as in previous years. Despite this, prices were rather stable, around €1.20-1.50/kg for 100 gram fruits."
"Future perspectives should be interesting for Hayward kiwis, but the Russian ban still poses a problem, as the country was an important market. Will Europe find it difficult to absorb the produce? It might, but it is still early to say."
"This situation was a stimulus to find new clients. We have attended Fruit Attraction in Madrid to look for new contacts. The situation may improve thanks to new markets in Eastern Europe, the Baltic states and in the Arab states. Those who already have connections in the Middle East are concentrating there because their demand is increasing."
Eurofrut exports all over Europe: Spain, France, Lithuania, Switzerland, Austria and Scandinavia. "We will also focus a lot on Poland and the Baltic states and we are also considering China, as demand is good, though we must not forget that it takes 40 days to reach."
