The new premium winter squash offers the perfect blend of sweet and buttery flavors
Butterkin now available for a limited time
Butterkin, a flavorful new variety of winter squash developed for its distinctive flavor and texture, is now available for a limited time. The harvest for Butterkin started in September and the squash is now available in parts of the U.S. and Canada. Supplies are expected to last through November.
Measuring about 6-to-7.5 inches in diameter and weighing between 2-to-4 pounds, Butterkin offers the perfect blend of sweet and buttery flavors making it the buttery cream of the crop. Its flavors make it the perfect addition to soups, pastas, pies and salads. Its creamy and smooth texture makes it extremely versatile and excellent for baking, roasting, steaming and even grilling.
Butterkin is positioned to be a premium and profitable squash and will be supported at retail with a marketing program, which includes a PLU sticker, point of sale signage and public relations outreach.
“We are very excited for Butterkin’s first season,” says Dean Cotton, vegetable seed business manager at SEEDWAY, LLC. “Arriving just in time for fall celebrations, we know consumers will love Butterkin for its great flavor.”
