Anger of Breton vegetable producers

Following the anger of Breton vegetable producers, urgent measures and mid-term solutions have been offered by the Minister of Agriculture.

Their anger did not begin on the day that they burnt down the buildings in Morlaix, Jean-Francois Jacob, President of the Sica Saint-Pol-de-Léon explains that “since August 2013, vegetables have been selling badly”, listing products affected such as tomatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, chicory and new potatoes.

“Over one year the turnover paid to producers has decreased by 25% and could reach 50% on some farms” he claims Apart from the weather, Mr Jacob also blames “the continual increases in charges and the gaps which have increased between us and our competitors”.
