"Del Monte Fresh announces 2nd "Gold for Gold" pineapple promotion"

Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. (Del Monte) announces the launch of their second annual pineapple promotion: “Gold for Gold.” This consumer promotion encourages US and Canadian grocery shoppers to enjoy Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet Pineapples and participate in the sweepstakes for a chance to win a pound of 24k gold. The “Gold for Gold” promotion has a pirate theme, tying into the tropical origins of the Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet Pineapple.

Retailers are encouraged to engage their customers even more by creating pirate-themed Del Monte Gold® pineapple displays in their stores. And there is treasure to be had for participating retailers as well. When they send pictures and/or videos of their displays to, they will be entered in the Gold for Gold Retail Display Contest. The store with the best display will receive an ounce of 24k gold (or a donation of equivalent monetary value to a charity of their choice)! The displays will be awarded points based on creativity and originality. Retailers can also earn points by running a Gold for Gold circular ad and using the Gold for Gold point-of-sale signage. All participating retailers will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip to Costa Rica!

“Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet Pineapples are incredibly versatile. They are an ideal and refreshing healthy snack, make delicious desserts, and can be used as an ingredient for cooking,” said Dennis Christou, VP of Marketing, North America for Del Monte. “Pineapples can be enjoyed year-round, especially in the fall when cooking and baking is in full swing as we approach the holidays.”

The five-week Gold for Gold promotion begins October 13 and ends November 16, 2014.
