The French retail group Auchan has announced their results for the first half of 2014. From the numbers it can be seen that sales on the domestic market have fallen by 1.9%, and 5.5% in the rest of Western Europe. Overall though the retail group may have had an increase in their net profit by 16.1%, bringing their profit to 26 billion Euro. Business in Italy especially is proving difficult. On the other hand business in Central and Eastern Europe is developing well with a growth of 9.3%. Business in Asia is also looking good.
