Large-Medium supermarkets in France affected by decrease in potato purchases

Large-Medium retailers have seen a decrease (-10% compared to 2013 in hypermarkets, -5% for supermarkets). 2.5kg sacks have continued to decrease (-18% compared to 2013).

Since the start of the season, potato purchases have stabilised at 3.7% compared to the last season.

The Large-Medium retailers are more affected by a decrease in purchases (-45% for hyper and supermarkets, -11% for hard discount) than specialised stores (-1%).

2.5kg sacks see a 12% decrease. Overall, the price paid by the consumer is equivalent to 2012-13, but the context of the offers are not the same and the decrease in purchases have weighed upon the market.
