Stubbins celebrating 50 years of excellence

Leading fresh produce grower and importer Stubbins kicked off its celebration of 50 years of excellence last night, as an Official Partner of The Taste Of London 2014.
The Waltham-Cross based firm has a huge presence at the show, which expects to attract upwards of 70,000 visitors between last night and Sunday.

Stubbins is not celebrating half a century in the business, it is using this landmark as a launch pad for significant change across the company.

Since 1964, the Difrancesco and Turone families have been growing fresh produce and Stubbins has spent that time setting trends and standards in the spheres of production, logistics and retail. Using the experience, knowledge and expertise built up serving the UK supermarkets, the firm has already begun to transfer the secrets behind its success into other retail channels, as well as the foodservice and catering sectors.

The multi-faceted Stubbins stand at Taste of London is showing off not just its versatile fresh offer, but also that it has expanded into ambient and frozen, dairy and fish. A brand new high-end confectionery range, Lovi, was launched online this week and is getting its first major airing at Regents Park show.

The Stubbins Food Partnerships Kitchen Garden was decorated with a bounty of fresh produce and will host many of the top chefs from the capital and thousands of food-loving consumers over the next few days. And an evocative video, which charts the ongoing evolution of Stubbins and was first aired at the London Produce Show and Conference, is being played on several high-profile big screens throughout the event.

Stubbins managing director Peter Turone, pictured with wife Tracy and daughter Marie, said the company was a perfect fit for the show’s theme - “Future trends and talent”. “With a respectful and appreciative nod to our past, we believe this is the ideal time for the company and our industry-leading team of people to look to our future and we have chosen the UK’s most prestigious and successful food event as the perfect environment to kick-start our celebrations with tens of thousands of trade and consumer visitors,” he said.

“We are fortunate to be able to look forward from such a strong historical base. We have the benefits of a rock-solid infrastructure, award-winning service levels, and the ability to deliver consistently fantastic product from a controlled and integrated supply chain, at a competitive price.

“We know what we are good at as a company. We believe we’ve become the very best at selling salad products to the UK supermarkets and that the principles underpinning the partnerships we have built can be applied to make our services available to a far wider network of customers, with a broader range of exciting new products.”
