Theme in EU election battle: concentration of seeding companies

After most Austrian parties had already presented their election placards, 'Die Grünen' have now also presented their election posters. The special part: Die Grünen vary regionally between the words 'Paradeiser' and 'Tomaten' in their campaign, reports the Austrian newspaper 'Die Presse'.

The green party says that they wish to thematise the "increasing concentration on the seed market by few concerns", as they explained to 'Die Presse' last Sunday. The European Parliament may have stopped the EU seeding regulation a number of weeks ago, but the theme isn't over yet, the party emphasises.

In Vienna, Steiemark and Burgenland the slogan "Mein Paradeiser darf nich illegal werdem" ('My tomato can not become illegal') is printed on the election posters. In the rest of the states 'Tomate' is used instead of 'Paradeiser'. The party asked organisations in the various states what word for tomato is most common in their state. Although 'Paradeiser' won in Vienna, the word 'Tomate' is more common in Niederösterreich.
