New Edeka distribution centre opens in Frauenwald

Last week in Landsberg Germany the inauguration of the new Edeka distribution centre was officially held, reports German website Kreisbote.de. The distribution centre is one of the most up-to-date of its kind in Germany, emphasized Edeka personnel with pride. 500 shops in the regions Schwaben and Southern Bayern are supplied from here.

In the last three and a half years Edeka Southern Bayern have invested 125 million Euro in the U-shaped building. The most modern technologies in the field of automatic ordering and production preparations are used. Hans Georg Maier, CEO of Edeka Southern Bayern, emphasized that the logistic centre also had its own heat recovery system and almost 10,000 photovoltaic cells available, whereby one third of the yearly energy use would be self generated. Every day 70 trucks will leave from Landsberg and when the distribution centre is in full use that will increase to 120 per day.
