Antonio De Lorenzis, CEO, stated that "the company launched Musica potatoes in 2012 and is currently the sole producer for the Salento area."
The relationship with Dutch multinational Meijer is getting stronger so much so that, last September, a road show was held in Agricola De Lorenzis. During the meeting, the companies agreed to further promote the variety in Italy with the help of Jan Van Der Werff (sales manager) and Paul Volleman (technical manager).
Musica potatoes are rather big (40/60) with a hard yellow, compact flesh. Their resistance to bacterial and viral diseases is good and they are harvested 20-25 days earlier than Sieglinde. They also represent a good alternative to Annabelles.
"Musica potatoes are doing well in Northern and Central Italy and demand is also increasing in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands."
The produce is sold either in jute bags or wooden/cardboard crates.
