Carrefour still in the lead in March

In terms of market share Carrefour remains in the lead of large French retailers, ahead of rival Leclerc. This position is reinforced by the strongest growth in March, according to monthly barometer, KantarWorldPanel.

From the 24th February - 23rd March, Georges Plassat's group reached a 21.2% market share compared to Leclerc's 19.6%. ''Carrefour's clients are more frequent, and therefore more faithful,'' with particularly a strong progress in the health and beauty section of hypers and a three point improvement in the company's quote, indicates Kantar.

Whilst Leclerc is ''less impressive than in the recent past'', it continues to gain market share, thanks to recruiting new clients and to click and collect points.
