According to the chairman of the Agricultural Chamber of the Turkish province of Giresun, 60-70% of hazelnut orchards have been damaged by the freeze that followed the snowfall between 29th and 30th March 2014, although additional information will only be available after further analysis.
"According to the calendar, the situation is still going to be risky for 20 days or so, so hazelnut producers are worried. The production would be totally ruined if they had to endure another freeze."
