Drugs find in German supermarket

Staff in a German supermarket found 20 kilos of drugs in banana boxes, report German newspaper 'Augsburger Allgemeine' on their website. It is not the first time that drugs have been discovered in a German supermarket.

The white substance was 'in very high probability' drugs, reported a member of Leipzig's police last Saturday. This was after several preliminary tests had been carried out; expert confirmation had yet to take place.

The drugs were hidden in the boxes between bananas, and found as they were unpacked. The country of origin and transport route of the delivery is presently under investigation.

At the start of this year, personnel in five Aldi stores in Berlin and Brandenburg also discovered drugs in banana boxes. The total find amounted to around 140 kilos of cocaine. Investigators at the time suspected that smugglers had been unlucky.
