Investments in new varieties of apricots to extend its production calendar and turnover; cultivation of the most demanded varieties of peaches and nectarines and a new production of seedless table grapes - this is the strategy of Eco Farm Srl. The company covers 1,000 ha of peaches, nectarines, apricots, table grapes, pears, melons and Rojo Brillante persimmons.
The main product is sweet nectarines, which are available from early June to early October and sold under the "Siciliama" mark. It also currently produces around 7,000 tons of table grapes.
Starting this week, netted melons will also be available, with a 25% increase in volumes. The produce is sold to domestic and European retailers and it holds the GlobalGAP certificate.
2,000 sq m of cold storage units guarantee the freshness and high quality of the produce.
20th anniversary
Partners discussed the objectives achieved so far and future perspectives during a meeting held on 25th March 2014.
Giacomoluigi Buzzi, SOAT manager, Antonio Mastropirro from Agriproject Group, Guglielmo L'Orefice from Fertiplant and Maurizio Fiorenza from Eco Farm took part to talk about Sharka prevention, varietal innovation and fertilisation.
The company expects to increase volumes sold thanks to its wide range of varieties.
