California Giant gives website a facelift

As of the 31st of March, visitors see a completely different look as they land on the California Giant home landing page, with a new colour scheme and several opportunities to engage before they even venture into secondary pages. The home page has several banners rotating with offers to entice the consumer in further, and there is video content running at all times linked to their You Tube page. Visitors can also catch up on the latest conversations on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram providing an opportunity to instantly engage in the conversation or join any one of the formats to keep up on latest news and views.

Another new component of www.calgiant.com is the ability for the consumer to click onto the traceability link allowing them to follow their clamshell of berries ‘back to the farm’. This item level traceability link has already seen a huge spike in activity with thousands of inquiries a month allowing the consumer yet one more way to learn more about California Giant berries and meet the farmers. Each landing page on that traceability link has video content and information showing where the berries were harvested.

In addition to the website facelift, California Giant is capitalizing on new technology which enables the site to be fully responsive. This enhancement provides instant transitions allowing the site to be optimized for whatever mobile device it is viewed on, so there is no need for a separate mobile website.

“This is just the beginning of our transition. We are now focused on SEO optimization and developing a new system for consumers to access our extensive library of recipes,” says Cindy Jewell, Director of Marketing. “We are always tracking what information is accessed by our consumer and ensuring we keep them coming back for more while capturing information about them along the way”, she adds.

In addition to the consumer website, California Giant has updated the trade section of their site with new infographics highlighting data about the berry category and ways the company has expanded their program to be on track with consumer trends. Trade partners will also see resources to support proper cold chain management along with critical handling and merchandising information.
