KWS sells complete portfolio of table retail varieties

KWS has announced it that it has sold its license for the sale of the KWS’ salad table retail portfolio, convenience and coloured varieties, to two of its staff members: Gerard Bovée and Jeroen van Soesbergen. As of July 1, 2014, their newly formed company Plantera, will market its acquired portfolio independently from KWS.

This step is a logical continuation of KWS’ decision last year, to focus on three segments of its potato business: crisps, french fries and table export.

"Over the last few months, KWS has taken various steps to implement this focus strategy. The company is convinced that selling the portfolio to Plantera will further support this," said Heike Draisbach, Managing Director of KWS Potato B.V. “Selling the portfolio allows for the development of a clear profile, and an effective allocation of resources.”

KWS and Plantera will ensure a smooth transfer of all current activities. “Third parties should not be negatively affected by the portfolio transfer.”, assures Heike Draisbach.

In addition, KWS is proud to announce the finalization of construction at its new breeding station in Nagele, The Netherlands. A brand new, 2,250 m2, greenhouse will complete the existing facilities, enabling KWS to organize commercial breeding activities and long-term R&D projects in-house.
